Saturday, June 19 The next two days could have been condensed into one half of a day as far as I was concerned. If you love to fish or eat fish, you may have enjoyed it more, but, I like the phrase, "where's the beef". We stopped in Sodotma for lunch which was ok but not enough to get pictures and then on to Homer on the Spit. A spit is described as as a narrow point of land extending into a body of water. We once again stayed in Bed and Breakfast. Remember what Forest Gump said, "you never know what you are going to get". Our room was certainly not anything to brag about this time and being told to take off our shoes was not the kind of hospitality we are used to in the south. We were assigned the sweetheart room and I thought it was because Laura and I had been sweethearts for 47 years. But the real reason was the room was so small, we had to put our arms around each other and turn around at the same time. It was the smallest bedroom we had slept in since our days in the trailer at Virginia Tech. The views from Skyline Drive of the Spit were very good and I did see a moose as I went out the door early one morning, so the two days were not all that bad.
